On March 4, 1997, two dead African men were found in the hold of the cargo ship 'Christina J' after the vessel had moored in the Cacaohaven of Amsterdam. The two may have wanted to seek refuge in Europe. The identity of both men is unknown, and their cause of death is also unclear.

The ship Christina J, which also bore the name Kingstown on the outside, transported cocoa from the Ivory Coast (Africa). It is therefore likely that the two unknown men came from that country or from one of the surrounding countries.

Both men wore (colorful) necklaces and amulets including cowrie shells (see photos). One of the two had a package sewn into the underpants containing Bank of West Africa banknotes.

Research has shown that the two men were not directly related. Their DNA profiles have been kept for comparative research.

Le 4 mars 1997, deux Africains morts ont été retrouvés dans la cale du cargo « Christina J » après que le navire ait amarré au Cacaohaven d'Amsterdam. Les deux hommes auraient peut-être voulu chercher refuge en Europe. L’identité des deux hommes est inconnue, tout comme la cause de leur décès.

Le navire Christina J, qui portait également le nom de Kingstown à l'extérieur, transportait du cacao depuis la Côte d'Ivoire (Afrique). Il est donc probable que les deux inconnus soient originaires de ce pays ou d’un des pays limitrophes.

Les deux hommes portaient des colliers (colorés) et des amulettes comprenant des cauris (voir photos). L’un des deux avait un paquet cousu dans le caleçon contenant des billets de banque de la Banque de l’Afrique de l’Ouest.

Des recherches ont montré que les deux hommes n'étaient pas directement liés. Leurs profils ADN ont été conservés à des fins de recherche comparative.
